Winter 2017

 
TODAY IS THE LAST UFO DAY OF 2017. 
UFO DAYS WILL RESUME IN MARCH 2018


The sun is shining and my pansies are still growing on my sun porch but, from experience, I know this is a temporary lull. Winter Is coming. 



This year, BOFA members Kathy, Sharon and Larry will be decorating the BOFA Christmas tree at the Belfast Christmas Trees in the Park. Our tree will feature Tune Tangles designs colored by grandchildren of BOFA members. 
The Lighting ceremony is 
Sunday, Dec 3, 2017, at 6:30 PM. 
Trees will be on display until January 6, 2018.

NOW PLANNING FOR SWAN Days Allegany County NY 2018
SWAN Day/Support Women Artists Now Day is an international holiday designed by womenarts.org to showcase the power and diversity of women’s creativity. Local residents can be a part of SWAN Day by participating in our local event where local women artists have FREE access to a space to show, sell, and present the work that they do. 
Join us for our first 2018  planning meeting 1-3pm at the Studio on Jan. 20, 2018.

Autumn is here! and with it comes the Allegany Artisans Studio Tours

OPEN STUDIOS ~ Preview in select studios, Friday, October 13 5-8 pm, and in all studios, Saturday & Sunday, October 14 & 15, 10 am to 5 pm.  The Allegany Artisans Studio Tour is an annual cooperative event that includes artisans of diverse styles, tastes and traditions working with clay, wood, metal, fiber, jewelry, paint, glass, paper & more! "We had 76 artists this year, 9 adults and 67 BCS students who published in "A Handful of Stars", Vol 6, an art and literary magazine published every year by the students of BCS. Doll Show ~ November 1-30th, Belfast Library ~A thirty year retrospective of the creativity of the Southwestern York-Penn Doll Club, organized by the Doll Club.

Artists Among Us 
Touring Art Program
Artwork by Ryann Cooley will be on display at SheilaLynnK Art Studio in Wellsville, NY from mid-June to mid-July as part of this touring art program. This Exhibit is FREE and Open to the Public during regular Open Studio Hours.

At B.O.F.A. we are always happy to see that the creative arts are alive and well in Belfast, NY. 
Belfast Central School Presented Pride and Prejudice at the Palmer Opera House on May 7th

"Belfast Central School’s production of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice has been deemed a success. It was performed in the BCS Auditorium April 28th and 29th. We had an excellent turn-out both nights with much laughter and attention from the crowd."

This year’s annual Senior Art Show is Tuesday May 16th from 4:30 to 5:30. The featured artists include seniors Christian Babbitt, MacKenzie Hamer, Sarah Marsh, and Tyler West. More News from the Belfast Beacon

Co-sponsored by The Belfast Organization for Artists and SheilaLynnK Art Studio; SWAN Days Allegany County NY is being held in honor of the many creative local women and men working hard to bring the arts to our rural community. 



Numerous creative events and activities will occur around the county during the Month of March. 


From March 25th to April 5th, at SheilaLynnK Art Studio, there will be an Art Show andSale featuring work by Local Women Artists.
