March 1st at 7:30pm Alfred University Performing Arts will be presenting The Story Box. A one woman show by Suzi Takahashi with original music by M. Gomez. At the Miller Performing Arts Center, Alfred, NY.
A Japanese-American woman finds a mysterious box left to her by the previous generation, and through it, a voice for her family’s history of immigration, internment, and silence. Set just after 9/11, it follows her story as she seeks refuge from NYC in the months following the attack.
This work was originally co-commissioned by the Women’s Rights National Park and the Bristol Valley Theater for its 2017 “Hear Me Roar” Celebration

First TWO Weeks of March the Belfast Public Library Features Women Artists with a display consisting of Non-fiction and Biography works. This selection will also include some things honoring the Girl Scouts of America.
March 5th 7pm The Feminist Roots of Wonder Woman at David A. Howe LibraryMonday Club Room Laurie Lounsberry McFadden is the Interim Dean of Libraries at Alfred University. She will be giving a talk on the history of comic books/pop culture with a focus on the background of Wonder Woman and how her evolution traces the women's movement in the US.
March 6th 6-8:30 Wire Wrapped Jewelry Class w/ Elaine @Cuba Circulating Library
Artisan Elaine Hardman will teach a class in herringbone wire-wrapped jewelry making. The class will make wire wrapped bracelets. Anyone 14 & older may sign up for the class on their own. Those 10 -13 may sign up with an adult. The cost is $5 per person. Class size is limited. Registration is required, so please stop in or call the library at 585-968-1668 to sign up. March 9th 12-2pm Belfast Braids Rug Braiding Class begins. This is a four week class meeting on Saturdays from Noon to 2pm ~pre-register call PeggyAnn 585-365-2506. PeggyAnn is a talented local artisan currently creating beautiful fiber art in Belfast, NY
March 14th 3:30 – 4:30 Endless Winter Book Club at David A. Howe Library featuring works by Liane Moriarty Meeting on the 2nd Thursday of the month these meetings continue in March, and April at 3:30 pm with a final tea party at the Duke House. Books we'll read are: What Alice Forgot, The Husband's Secret, and Truly Madly Guilty. We will finish with a compare/contrast of Big Little Lies with the HBO series at the tea party. March 23rd 10am-2pm Hanging SWAN Days Allegany County, NY Art Show Entries at David A. Howe Library in Wellsville, NY. Featuring works by local women artists, the show will be open to the public until March 30th. Awards from $20 to $100 will be determined by visitors’ votes from 4-7:30pm March 28th. Light refreshments available. Stop in to vote for your favorites! Winners TBA March 30th.
The Last Two Weeks of March the Belfast Public Library Features Women Artists with displays about Crafting & Home Arts. The Belfast Organization for Artists will exhibit items from local women artists. This series will also include some quilted items to also honor National Quilting Day on March 16th.
March 26th 2pm Penny Marshall’s “A League of Their Own” @ David A. Howe Library. Free and open to the public in the Nancy Howe Auditorium.

The first 2 weeks of April the Belfast Public Library Features Women Artists with displays about Poetry (April is National Poetry Month), Music, and Art representing women in the visual and auditory arts. The Belfast Organization for Artists will exhibit items from local women artists.

April 6th 6-9pm Tri County Arts Council Black & White Ball Bartlett Country Club Join Tri-County Arts for our annual Celebration of the Arts! This year the event is a Black and White Ball with a live band to dance the night away. Tickets are $50 each and are on sale now at www.myartscouncil.net/celebration-of-the-arts-party.html. April 21st – April 27th Allegany Arts Association Hosts “Spring Fling” Free Art Classes for Local Youth Multiple Locations TBA. Currently organized by an all-female board of directors, The Allegany Arts Association Board and its members are dedicated to providing equitable services for the expansion of access to the arts for all members of our community.

April 24th 6-7:30pm at Cuba Circulating Library
Local artist Patience Wnek will teach a One Stroke painting. Students will be instructed in the use and application of One Stroke painting techniques. Each student will create their own beautiful work of art and be able to apply what they have learned to a variety of different surfaces. All skill levels welcome. There is a $5 materials fee per student due on the night of the class. Space in the class is limited, so please call the library to register at 585-968-1668.

April 27th 1pm Beats Dance Studio 3rd Annual Beats Special Needs Dance Show Case at Wellsville High School Auditorium
With an all-female board of directors, their mission is to create a safe and caring environment for dancers with special needs to come together as a community and share their passion for dance by performing in a show. Visit their website or find them on facebook.
