Welcoming Creative Minds to BOFA 

New BOFA member Karen Roll sharing her ideas on & experiences with the creative process in quilting & doll making. Karen's Trunk Show was presented to the Crafty Belles in the Belfast Town Hall on Wednesday, March 26, 2014. BOFA members Kathy, Marie, Sheary, & Cecy were also in attendance.












Karen is a self-taught master quilter, a book illustrator, a watercolor artist, and a maker of wonderful dolls. She will be exhibiting in August at the Annual Art Show and in November at the November 2014 Doll Makers and Doll Artists Exhibition at Belfast Public Library. Heating up for Summer

Creative Individuals in the Belfast, NY area are invited to join the Belfast Organization For Artists in promoting creative unity, awareness and participation in the arts in the Belfast Area. 




Classes, workshops, and shows abound with Fabric Art and Design, Poetry and Limericks, Drawing and Painting, Music and Performance Art, Photography, Culinary & Baking, Paper Sculpture and Plaster Casts, Woodwork, Collage and Mixed Media, and  Roycroft, it's all Fine Art for all ages at BOFA. Dedicated to sharing opportunities for artists, supporting the community,  local heritage, and Belfast activities and events in loving Memory  of Amanda since 2009, the Belfast Organization For Artists is Creativity In Action.

May~ 29th 1-4pm FREE UFO (Un-Finished Objects) Day at Belfast Town Hall
Do you have unfinished creative projects? Like to have fun and socialize while you work on them? Bring them and your own supplies. No Registration. Just stop in. 
31st ~10a.m.-7p.mBOFA will be at Belfast Central School supporting the Strum ACCORD event to benefit Community Action Angels newest initiative to provide musical instruments to children in need in Allegany County. "The purpose of this event is to exhibit the hard work and dedication of the students in the after school programs. These students have spent all year practicing music of their choice. Our 21st CCLC after school program has a Music Teacher that provides individual and group lessons in vocals, bass, guitar, drums and piano. Of the nearly 80 students who participate, most do not or cannot afford an instrument of their own...STRUM ACCORD is sponsored and coordinated by ACCORD's 21st Century Community Learning Center After School Program.."

Belfast Organization For Artists Events Coordinator, Kathryn Garrison, is moving ahead with the Fabric Art Panels for the Public Service Project to be donated to the Children's Story Corner at the Belfast Public Library.                                                       "When you have a blizzard you (might) spend the day piecing Belfast Organization For Artists - BOFA Library project panels." ~K.G.                                                                      Carleen Hardy (the library story-teller) and Marie Nix (Poet & Fabric Artist,BOFA Member) will also be helping out with this project.

The full project is to be hung and open to the public after grant-funded renovations at the library are completed this Spring.

Spring 2014 plans

    


CARICATURES AND CARTOONING CLASS
BOFA is the co-sponsor on the upcoming free 4 class series on "Caricatures & Cartooning" being presented at 
the Belfast Library by Eric Jones on
 March 5, 12, 19, & 26, 2014 from 6:30 - 8:30 PM.  
The Library won a grant from the NYS Council on the Arts Decentralization Regrant Program (administered by the Cattaraugus County Arts Council).

BOFA members are actively working on the 5 panels of fabric arts for this public service project at the Belfast Library.  


CALL FOR ARTISTS: DOLL MAKER'S EXHIBIT
Deb Pomeroy and Kathy Garrison are planning a Doll-Makers' Show in November at the Belfast Library 
This exhibit will include: doll quilts, handmade dolls, & doll furniture--all made by local artisans.  

Still searching for a local doll furniture maker and

Warm Your Heart with these local dates with the Arts

The weekend of February 14th: BOFA member, Kathy Garrison, will be giving a photo-illustrated lecture on the churches she saw in Provence, France at the St. Patrick's Annual Women's Retreat at the Abbey of the Genesee.  This program is available to other groups upon request.  I can be contacted for details & scheduling.  The program is 45 minutes-1 hour in length.


BOFA members continue working on the public service project for the story corner at the library.

February 17th-21st Allegany Arts Association is offering free art classes for children in Allegany County.

February 28th: Wellsville Art Association will be accepting entries for the Annual Photography Show at David A. Howe Library. 

March 22: 3-6pm SheilaLynnK Art Studio in Wellsville, NY will be hosting a 
SWAN Day Party FOR WOMEN ARTISTS OF ALLEGANY COUNTY, NY AND SURROUNDING AREAS. The agenda will include discussing ways to support local women artists, increase awareness of the work we create, and how to promote creative unity in our community.Please bring your ideas and a small snack to share. Get connected with other artists and make a little progress on that project that has been haunting you.
Bring any project and materials you are working on...or finish up that project you just put on the back-burner because you had more 'important' stuff to do.
